The Marriott offers breath taking beaches with astonishing ocean view rooms!

My assistant and I very much enjoyed our stay at the Marriott in San Juan. We stayed in the shorter cabana tower on the top floor. Our views were gorgeous and the king room was spacious and comfortable. There was a bar area with a mini fridge, and the room had robes and plenty of towels. The balcony had two chairs and a table, so we spent several evenings before dinner having drinks on our balcony and enjoying the view. The bed was comfortable and the showers were strong. We did need to request foam pillows since the pillows in our room were terribly uncomfortable. The housekeeping service, while they cleaned the room well, did attempt to attend our room before 9 am two days in a row, so make sure you put your “privacy please” tag on your door if you’re not an early riser.

Security – There was security EVERWHERE including a guard (or two) stationed on our floor. We didn’t know if we felt better or worse for it. The vacation ended without incident, so we can’t complain. However, it was a bit unnerving to say the least.

Hotel & Staff – The resort itself was very beautiful and on a beautiful stretch of the beach. The staff on the beach was excellent. We were provided with several beach towels at a time and the staff set up their complimentary lounge chairs and umbrellas wherever we wanted. The wait staff on the beach was extremely pleasant – we loved Stephanie! The tropical drinks were to die for! I highly recommend Vintage Pina Colada.

The Beach – There wasn’t very much seaweed nor was there much sea life that we saw during our stay, except we did have 3 small manatees swim up to us! The beach itself was very clean and well kept. The shadow of the hotel covers the beach almost up to water on the right side of the beach in the afternoon. So, if you’re looking to be in the sun all day, put your chair on the left hand side of the beach.

The Pool – The main pool area was exquisite, especially with the swim-up bar. I don’t have kids but I thought it was convenient to have a separate but adjacent kid’s pool. The pool was very crowded on the weekend in the later afternoons, but there was a band playing near the pool area and college football games playing on the bar TVs, so it may have been a fluke. Otherwise, neither pool was very crowded at all.

Food & Entertainment – The restaurant near the pool overlooking the beach was highly expensive, but had excellent food. I recommend the seafood risotto. The restaurant wait staff was the worst of the trip- extremely inattentive and unfriendly. Everyone in our group enjoyed the casino and EVERYONE won. I won $200 in slots, my assistant won a slots mini-jackpot for $1000. It wasn’t a very large casino, but it wasn’t crowded either.

Location – There is a CVS and Walgreens next door to the Marriott where you can buy a bottle of rum for the price of 1 pina colada at the hotel, so we stocked up on liquor and mixers for our rooms. We had the foresight to pack a blender, so we made our own daiquiris and margaritas in the evenings. Also, there is a burger/hot dog joint across the street called Buns that was surprisingly delicious and extremely inexpensive ($5 for a burger). It’s open until 4 am on weekends.

Recommend: Yes – Overall the hotel experience went extremely well and apart from the last restaurant we dined at, the staff were friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. I would most definitely recommend this Marriott hotel, and will return myself for that matter.
